Position Summary

The CMT is responsible for a very large number of projects and consequently needs to spend time on the highest priority tasks to ensure all assigned projects are completed within their budget and schedule parameters. In this position, you will take on the role of project manager or project lead for assigned Substation projects. You will be the main contact for consultants and will need to be available for high level questions, help on unusual problems, and high level engineering oversight of projects, including ensuring that Xcel Energy internal processes for work order management, material procurement, estimating, and scheduling are followed by the consultant firms. In this role, you will apply intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields. Xcel Energy has an excellent opportunity for a Power Plant Instrument and Controls (I&C) Technical Instructor or Sr. Technical Instructor located in Denver, CO. This position will be responsible for developing and delivering technical training to Instrument and Controls Technicians working in our Colorado Power Generation plants. This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity for candidates with extensive journeyman experience in a power generation plant and who have a passion for passing along their knowledge and skills to new technicians.

Summary
Deliver technical training in the area of Instrumentaion and Controls (I&C). Provide other related technical training. Utilize the Systematic Approach to Training process (analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation) to develop and maintain training materials per the Training Process Procedures (TPP's). Design instruments and perform statistical analysis to quantitatively and qualitatively evaluate effectiveness (levels 1-5) on the health of training program. Conduct and assist with self-evaluations of training programs or other related activities. Position may require extended periods of time at the customer site. Be an active participant in the apprenticeship program.

Essential Responsibilities

- Implement ADDIE process to deliver training.

- Provide support to training process unique to Energy Supply training including customer contacts to represent all training services

- Meet continuing technical, in-plant and instructional requirements by adhering to Training Process Procedures.

- Fully utilize business processes including scorecard, and ADDIE process. Apply policy, and daily management.

- Consult with customer to identify business needs and objectives. Provide customer contact for all training services, products and programs.

- Using web based tools, revise online training material.

Qualifications

Required

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent technical discipline (6 years experience in I&C may substitute for the degree)
- Proven written and verbal communication skills
- Working knowledge of OSHA/safety and environmental practices and industry standards
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite

Applicants with significant experience in the development and delivery of Technical Training programs following the Systematic Approach to Training (ADDIE) will be considered for the Senior level instructor.

Xcel Energy, Inc. is seeking a Technical Training Supervisor to manage a team of Technical Instructors in Denver, Colorado. This motivated individual will be responsible managing the technical training team that is responsible to developing and training for skilled trades persons in power generating facilities, including apprentices and journeymen. This includes mechanical, electrical, instrumentation & control, welding, machining and power plant operations training programs.

Summary
Supervises the activities of accredited and/or non-accredited program training instructors and is responsible for the quality of training conducted for the Energy Supply (non-nuclear) organization. Ensures that training complies with regulatory and accreditation requirements. Improves individual and department performance to support station and fleet needs.

Essential Responsibilities

- Directly supervises technical instructors. Includes management of instructor time, expenses, performance, and providing instructors with constructive feedback. Attracts, recruits, and retains a highly motivated, technical staff. Develops and communicates clear performance expectations. Communicates corporate, business unit, and department objectives

- Assists department manager in budgeting, staffing, planning, monitoring, and reporting to cost effectively meet station and fleet training needs. Identifies adverse budget trends and develops solutions. Ensures records are prepared and maintained in accordance with Xcel Energy policy.

- Provides program oversight to ensure that training is systematically conducted to continuously improve plant employee technical performance in accordance with the accredited training process as well as all applicable codes and regulations. Ensures assessments and evaluations are conducted according to Energy Supply procedures; facilitates and participates in training review committees

- Supervises the conduct of quality technical training. Requires observing and correcting training practices, procedures, and policies.

- Participates in fleet, industry, and regulatory training unit workshops, benchmarking, assessments, and assistance as assigned. Leads fleet training standardization team and implements benchmarking best practices.

Qualifications

Required
College degree (Engineering or technical field) is preferred, a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge (Ex: specialized trade school, technical school, or some college) in science, engineering, maintenance, or power plant operations may be substituted.

Minimum of 5 years' experience in power plant operations, instrumentation & controls, chemistry, maintenance, and/or engineering functions.

Candidates must have strong training background and knowledge of adult learning theory and practices.

Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage projects, in-depth knowledge of industry regulations, ability to evaluate the effectiveness of training, presentation and facilitation skills, and excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency in computer software applications is required.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in mechanical plant maintenance.
