Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following.

Working under the supervision of the licensed instructional personnel the Instructional Assistnant is responsible for assisting the Teacher and the students with the daily functions of the classroom and providing occasional supervision of the students.
  • Responsibilities and duties are performed under the immediate supervision of licensed instructional personnel.
  • Supervising students during lunch room and recess.
  • Assists PhyEd Teacher.
  • Work with assigned at-risk students in the classroom, small groups or on a 1:1 basis.
  • Assist licensed staff in adapting and and modifying lesson plans for students as needed.
  • Monitor behavior and assist teacher in implementing postive behavior support plans as needed.
  • Work with classroom teacher in communicating with family on a regular basis.
  • Create and monitor communication log used with teachers/families.
  • Attend meetings with families, students and staff to provide additional support.
  • Provide general student supervision.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
  • Must be NCLB Highly Qualified which requires 60 credits.
  • Two-year or four-year college degree.
  • Background in working with diverse populations and students.
  • Duties are performed in a typical school setting.  Work involves minimal exposure to hazards and/or risks associated with the performance of the job. There may be occasional disagreeable human interactions when dealing with students.
  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects in the performance of the job.
