Paraprofessional, Autism Day Treatment

Job Description:

The Autism Day Treatment (ADT) program at St. David's Center is for children ages 2-6 years, who have a medical diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The program uses a mental health approach and leverages an interdisciplinary team of child therapists including licensed psychologists/mental health professionals, mental health practitioners, and music, occupational, and speech-language therapists.

Position Overview:

The ADT Paraprofessional provides vital and significant support to the multidisciplinary treatment team and clients served in the ADT program. The primary responsibility of the Paraprofessional is to support the treatment team staff (under the guidance of the mental health professional and mental health practitioner) to implement individual day treatment plans in order to achieve client goals in the treatment room.

Responsibilities

  • Provide interventions and support that enhance program participants’ success.

  • Support functional development skills.

  • Coordinate the organization and maintenance of the treatment room environment.

  • Maintain appropriate records and reports to support successful treatment for program participants.

Schedule: 25 hours per week

Pay: DOQ

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Associates degree with 4,000 hours experience.

  • Experience in working with children with special needs, particularly children on the autism spectrum.

  • Knowledge of child development and childhood disorders.

  • Good organization skills, attention to detail, patience, flexibility, creativity, resourcefulness, maturity, ability to take direction and work as a team member.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and an acceptable driving record.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
