Orthotic Technician I

Location: St. Paul-GTC/455 Phalen

Hours: 0.5 FTE (20 hrs/wk); hours will be between 8:00-4:30 pm Monday - Friday with flexibility

Primary Responsibilities:
The Orthotic Technician works under the direct supervision of an orthotist and is responsible for fabricating safe, functional, and cosmetically acceptable orthoses by filling casts, vacuum forming or laminating, establishing initial trim lines, and other technical functions. The Orthotic Technician also assists orthotists in the repair and adjustment of existing orthoses.

Required Qualifications:
Graduate of an NCOPE approved Orthotic Technician program or have successfully completed a minimum of 75% of an NCOPE approved Orthotic Technician program or equivalent work experience at time of hire
Excellent hand and power tool skills
Creative technical problem solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:
Orthotic Technician certification within 1 year of hire

Position Summary:

Fabricates safe, functional, and cosmetically acceptable orthoses by filling casts, vacuum forming or laminating, establishing initial trim lines, and other technical functions under the direction of an orthotist. To assist orthotists in the repair and adjustment of existing orthoses.

Specific duties are determined by the work setting or patient population served; however, in all positions, serving patients with challenging and complex conditions requires a concentration of specialized staff able to work in highly coordinated teams. We organize care around each patient’s condition which requires staff at multiple levels and across many departments to exhibit exceptional teamwork qualities including communicating efficiently and effectively and adopting the behaviors required for high functioning integrated teams, consistent with our Gillette CARES expectations.

Qualifications:

Required:
