Membership & Sales Assistant (Full-time)

The Membership and Sales Assistant is responsible for excellent customer service for general museum inquiries and sales of memberships, school group visits, on and off-site classes, birthday parties and museum events. This position is a part of the museum call center, taking incoming calls and responding to customer requests via multiple channels including online & emails, as well as being responsible for timely data entry and sending follow-up materials.

Major Job Accountabilities:

  • Respond to general museum inquiries and comments through the call center and social media platforms answering   customer questions and giving information. Take incoming sales calls and reservations for all programs and products for sale. In example memberships, educational programs, birthday parties, tickets, gift cards, and museum   events. Monitor museum social media channels for comments, questions, complaints, responding or alerting a supervisor as needed. 
  • Process sales and complete data entry for memberships purchased through the call center, mail, and online using Galaxy and The Raiser’s Edge. Responsible for acting on member requests for replacement cards, change of address and general record maintenance. Accountable for follow-up data entry of onsite membership sales.
  • Facilitate email and online surveys in regards to customer satisfaction, Play for All demographics and also sending various emails to increase sales revenue and gather data. Compile and present data gathered on a consistent schedule to the Membership and Sales Manager.  
  • Support Group and Event Sales Coordinator in facilitating birthday parties, groups and seasonal museum events through sales tracking, sending various emails to increase sales revenue and gather data, and assist with weekly event preparations.
  • Assist with membership events and other special events.
  • Provide administrative support by processing daily check deposits, sorting incoming mail and tracking sales
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Require:

  •  Excellent customer service skills.    
  •  Knowledge of computer software applications, prefer The Raiser’s Edge and Galaxy experience
  •  Familiarity and comfort using popular social media platforms
  •  Knowledge of proper grammar.
  •  Knowledge of basic bookkeeping procedures
  •  Strong attention to detail.
  •  Skill in data reconciliation.
  •  Skill in interpersonal communication.
  •  Ability to anticipate and prepare responses to members' questions or problems.
  •  Ability to maintain the integrity of the database system.
  •  Ability to organize time and work in an effective manner.


  • Prefer Associate degree (A.S., A.A.) in communications, English, liberal arts or software applications or two-year technical certificate.
  • One-year experience with computer software applications, including knowledge of database management, The Raiser’s Edge preferred.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in customer service or donor/member relations.

Compensation:  Starting rate of pay is $12.75 per hour.
