Maintenance Mechanic

Location: St. Paul - 183 University

Hours: 1.0 FTE

Position Summary:

Performs maintenance, including installation, moving and repairs to/of buildings, grounds, equipment and systems in accordance with Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare’s high safety and appearance standards. Ensures optimum efficiency and reliability of electrical, mechanical, automation and other utility systems. Also maintains utilities, building finishes, furniture and other office related elements as required. 



• 2 year technical degree / equivalent
• 5 years work experience in the following areas (electronics, electrical, mechanical and pneumatic)
• Experience with HVAC equipment (operations / maintenance)
• Knowledge of Building Automation Systems (programming / troubleshooting / reporting / data analysis) to ensure efficient operation.
• Some knowledge of the healthcare environment
• Proficient in reading and verifying construction documents, electrical, pneumatic and
mechanical schematics and shop drawings
• Ability to understand detailed maintenance / service instructions
• Good oral and written and communication skills
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to work effectively in teams
• Ability to work overtime when necessary to support high priority requests or meet project goals.
• Flexibility to work on several projects at the same time
• Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record
• Ability to carry an assigned cell phone daily and the on-call pager on a rotating basis
• Excellent customer service skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
• Dedication to working safely
• Ability to work independently

• Advanced HVAC experience
• R.O. water system knowledge
• Refrigerant handling certified
• Accustomed to computerized work request system
• Basic knowledge of fire safety codes and regulations
