SCHEDULE: Must be able to work days, evenings, weekends and some holidays.

COMPENSATION: Starting rate of pay is $10.75.

Plus a $150 signing bonus paid after the completion of two pay periods.

REPORTS TO: Housekeeping Supervisor

CLASSIFICATION: Part-time, Non-exempt (15-20 hours per week)

Position Summary

Minnesota Children's Museum is looking for dependable, hard-working people. Housekeepers are an important part of daily operation, helping keep the Museum a clean and sanitary environment for our visitors and staff. Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Vacuums, cleans, and dusts all areas of Museum including polishing surfaces and trash removal
  • Cleans, disinfects, and restocks bathrooms daily
  • Maintains equipment, custodial cart in a clean/orderly fashion
  • Response to accidents as directed including mopping spills, picking up trash and materials.
  • Greet visitors that you encounter during your shift with a friendly smile.
  • Reports malfunction of any equipment, plumbing, electrical to supervisor
  • Reports any safety hazards observed while performing assigned tasks to supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • No educational requirements
  • One year previous housekeeping experience preferred.
  • Must have the ability to speak and read basic English
  • Able to work with cleaning equipment (vacuum, duster, mop) and supplies (sanitation solutions)
  • Works well with others
  • Individuals must have the ability to interact effectively and positively with Museum visitors and staff
  • Comfortable working around Museum visitors (children)
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The physical demands include standing or walking more than half of the day, climbing stairs, lifting up to 50lbs, crouching, kneeling and twisting consistently.
