Estimator

REPORTS TO: VP, RMS Operations

SUMMARY: Responsible for contributing to the achievement of overall customer satisfaction and profit goals by accurately estimating the costs of potential customer projects in a timely manner. The estimators are designated specific salespeople to work with to encourage a thorough knowledge of these customers. Participates in process improvement projects as needed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Review the Request for Estimate to determine that all necessary information is available and understood.

2. In the case of a rerun or rerun with change, review the previous ticket, job costing, and any ticket comments. Base the estimate on that information.

3. Prepare estimates on Primac computer system for linking purposes and printout, proofread and distribute appropriately.

4. Re-estimate any jobs that may require a revised estimate when received in the plant.

5. Review costs vs. estimate on the invoiced jobs report.

6. Be acquainted with policies and procedures of all departments necessary to estimate the project. Be up to date on all ISO procedures and training.

7. Determine which (if any) outside purchases are necessary. Locate appropriate vendors to meet Meyer’s quality expectations.

8. Maintain vendor partnerships.

9. Assist sales by reviewing estimates with them when necessary.

10. Report any problems with the computer systm to the Lead Display Estimator.

11. Obtain estimate approval from Lead Estimator before forwarding to appropriate salesperson on estimates over $50,000.

12. Ensure confidentiality and security by making sure computer terminal is logged off when not in use and before leaving for the day.

13. Backup other Estimator(s) and Lead Estimator during illnesses, vacation, and other absences.

14. Other duties as needed or assigned.

15. Performs job duties in accordance with all federal, state, local and company safety rules.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Thorough graphic arts/technical knowledge, excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to work under pressure, ability to establish multi-faceted priorities, mathematical aptitude, team attitude, basic computer skills, and excellent attention to detail.

Must be self-motivated, independent thinker & require little supervision.

Level of work activity is Sedentary and involves lifting 10 lbs. Maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles. Must be able to move freely on foot thoughout the plant, as occasional walking and standing is necessary in carrying out job duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduate or GED equivalent. 2 years minimum experience with a printing company which produces the same or similar product, and minimum 1 year experience in a customer service and/or sales position. Must pass pre-employment psychological profile, background check and drug test. Must test in the normal range for color blindness.
