ASSEMBLER CELL CAPTAIN - 2nd Shift and 3rd Shift - RMS

SUMMARY: Performs all tasks required by Hand Finishing Assembler, as well as supervises the activities and training needed within a cell. Works as part of a team to provide customers with a quality, packaged product in a timely manner.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Directs cell personnel in training and performing their assigned tasks. Instructs, demonstrates and assesses accuracy of tasks assigned to all cell workers.

2. Incorporates new methods and processes for continuous improvement. Sets up cell work flow to allow for maximum efficiency.

3. Formats and prints any required carton labels.

4. Performs all necessary written internal and external documentation with complete and accurate information as required by internal procedures (load tags, etc.) and/or customer specifications.

5. Reads, reviews and understands the assigned jobs according to specifications.

6. Performs manual tasks such as assembly kitting, inserting, hand folding, hand collating, taping, etc. efficiently and accurately according to job ticket and job specifications.

7. Sets up and operates equipment such as conveyors, tape machines, strapping machines, shrink wrappers, etc. in the correct manner.

8. Maintains quality standards by inspecting for quality, documenting quality issues discovered, and reports them to the Hand Finishing Lead on duty.

9. Identifies, assesses and documents any safety concerns. Makes corrections, or reports concerns to Hand Finishing Lead when necessary.

10. Follows written and verbal instructions accurately; performs all assigned work efficiently, and on schedule.

11. Clearly communicates thoughts and listens effectively with hand finishing staff and other functional departments in a manner that is appropriate with company culture.

12. Keeps work area neat and clean and takes care of any utilized equipment.

13. Uses lean manufacturing practices to eliminate waste of labor, materials and supplies. Reports time and materials consumption accurately.

14. Performs other duties as assigned by the Hand Finishing Manager, Supervisor or Shift Lead.

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

1. Able to lift up to 75 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 25 pounds of force constantly.

2. Must be able to move easily throughout the plant on foot, stand for the majority of the work shift and perform pushing, pulling, stooping, bending, reaching, and lifting functions.

3. Able to operate smaller pieces of automated equipment 4. Able to perform repetitive manual tasks. Manual dexterity and excellent eye/hand coordination are required to safely manipulate equipment such as hand tools, carts and skids.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High school diploma or GED equivalent.

2. Prior experience working in a fast paced and dynamic packaging or assembly environment.

3. Able to read, write legibly, follow verbal and written instructions, and perform basic mathematical calculations dealing with weights and dimensions and quantity.

4. Knowledge of basic arithmetic. Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide quickly and accurately. 5. Must successfully pass pre-employment skills testing, background screen, physical and drug test.
