Position Description:
Developmental Adapted Physical Education Teacher
FUNCTION:
The Developmental Adapted Physical Education Teacher (DAPE) provides a specially designed physical education program for students with disabilities, and who have a substantial delay or disorder in physical development.
RESPONSIBLE TO:
Building/School Principal *** Special Education
QUALIFICATIONS:
** Current Minnesota Physical Education License and a current Minnesota Developmental Adapted
Physical Education License PK-12.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
** Participate in the planning and implementation of a continuum of services (consultation, indirect, and direct service) designed to meet the needs of students who have a substantial delay or disorder in physical development.
** Implement Federal, State and Minneapolis Public Schools regulations as they relate to Developmental Adapted Physical Education.
** Implement assessment procedures, eligibility criteria and service delivery as specified in the current Developmental Adapted Physical Education Service Plan.
** Document student progress and communicate results to building educational staff and parents.
** Participate in Student Support Team and Special Education meetings when appropriate.
** Provide consultation to general physical education staff and parents.
** Provide appropriate Developmental Adapted Physical Education programming and intervention to special populations in the assigned building.
** Attend staff development services on district designated release days and attend schedule Developmental Adapted Physical Education meetings.
** Complete and submit required district and special education reports within specified time limits.
** Adhere to building and Developmental Adapted Program policy and procedures as specified.
** Develop a schedule for providing services to students with needs in the area of developmental adapted physical education for each building/buildings.
SALARY:
MFT Local 59 teacher salary schedule.
