Description:
Instructor, Electrical Construction & Design Dunwoody College of Technology currently has the need for an instructor in the Electrical Construction & Design Program. This position is responsible for initiating the teaching and learning process with a focus on continuous improvement in an environment in which students can accomplish the learning objectives of the course of instruction. The expected results are students able to demonstrate the knowledge, skills, ethics, and use of proper tools to meet industry and professional business standards. This position will teach the 2nd year in the Electrical Construction Design and Management program (ECDM). The year includes three quarters focusing on: residential, commercial and industrial. POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES * Teaches, trains and supervises: drafting, designing, specifying, analyzing, estimating, managing and presenting electrical construction/engineering projects for residential, commercial and industrial facilities. * Coordinates technical fieldtrips and industry expert presentations. * Facilitates learning activities so that students learn the principles, theory, skills, and work ethic necessary to become proficient for entry level positions. * Creates a positive learning environment. * Monitors, assesses and advises learner on technical and academic progress and performance. * Uses current academic and industry practices in assigned courses of instruction. * Develops and upgrades lesson material, training aids and maintains equipment within assigned course of instruction. * Assists in the recruitment and placement of learners. * Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS * Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Electrical Construction Design and Management or Electrical Construction and Maintenance is required. * Bachelor's Degree or welling to obtain one, preferably in Electrical Engineering or other related Electrical field. * 1-3 years professional teaching experience in related field. * 5000-7000 professional working hours in related industry. * Strong knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, electrical estimating software, generator sizing software, lighting calculation software, energy code software and power system analysis software. * Strong knowledge of NEC, NESC, Fire Alarm Code and Building code. * Strong knowledge of construction documents, CSI specifications and electrical project management. * Strong PC skills, including experience with Microsoft Office suite programs; database management skills.
