Position Title: New Product Introduction Buyer - Mechanical Purpose: New Product Introduction Buyer will report to assigned Commodity Manager with primary responsibilities for sourcing, procuring, qualifying and managing the development activities of new product and component introductions in a fast paced, concurrent engineering environment from concept to first time production buys. This includes determining optimal ordering method and setting up the appropriate item attributes in the Oracle ERP system. This role will have to manage their activities around respective new product introduction teams to assure materials are ordered and delivered on time to support product launch schedules. This position will also be responsible for reporting material, labor & burden costs as well as developing processes and involving suppliers to achieve cost targets, inventory control, and the optimal low-cost manufacturing process and location to realize lowest total cost of ownership. Responsibilities: * Respond to daily internal engineering requisitions in Oracle for prototype parts to meet schedule of their New Product Development Teams. * Track status of prototype/development component orders and expedite parts as necessary. * Sub-Team support of the D5 development process to assure costs are accurate and cost and inventory goals are met for new products. * Primary lead for new component sources and qualification of new suppliers, including conducting audits and establishing supplier development plans to mitigate risks. * Create and implement new supplier agreements or changes to existing agreements. * Exercise judgment as to quantities, sources and alternate materials. * Collaborates with Commodity Managers and Commodity Teams on development and implementation of strategies. * Generates discreet, consigned, blanket, and modified blanket order requirements. * RMA processing on a daily basis to minimize inventory impacts. * Responsible for A/P issues around individual purchase orders. * ECO processing and planning to minimize cost impacts and assuring new documentation is provided to the supplier. * Manage and review system attributes as required. * Participate on continuous improvement teams to drive out costs. * Document and implement departmental procedures Basic Qualifications: * Motivated professional who enjoys the daily dynamics of Purchasing in a New Product Introduction Team as well as working in a Global Supply Chain environment. * Deliver results to New Product Engineering Teams by influencing sourcing decisions. * Has excellent knowledge about commodity specific component fabrication, cost drivers, technology/raw material trends, logistics, and distribution channels. * Background in generation and execution of supplier agreements * Strong APICs knowledge and background. * Proficiency in the use of Oracles (or other) ERP systems in item attributes, purchasing, supply chain and planning. * Manage high volume of transactional activities daily in Oracle (or other) ERP systems in a low volume / high mix business model. * Critical & Analytical thinking skills to suggest and make modifications to Oracle to drive for automation and improvement. * Knowledge of Planner’s workbench to assist Buyer/Planner for determination of demand inputs & outputs. * Possess and use analytical skills to make changes around item attributes in Oracle. * Develop processes to streamline order management activities for New Product Introduction teams. * Negotiation skills necessary for pricing, lead-time improvements, cost avoidance and expedites. * Proficient at specification review and able to recognize cost drivers and provide rough estimates of component costs and recommend cost avoidance/reduction opportunities. * Ability to understand technical and commercial requirements and align suppliers to best fit those needs. * Excellent communicator (phone, computer, email, business cases) * Able to build relationships across and up the Datacard organization and with key supplier management. * Ability to translate strategic concepts into deployable action plans. Proven track record of successfully implementing challenging goals. * Proficient at MS Office, Agile, and other software programs when assigned. * Tracks & Reports issues on a quarterly basis. * 10 + Years of experience in buying/planning * Bachelor's degree Preferred Qualifications: * Procurement or prototype parts in an Oracle environment preferred. * International procurement experience in Europe and Asia.
