| Part-time Instructor - Visual Effects & Motion Graphics
Summary: The instructor will deliver upper and lower division college-level instruction. The instructor facilitates meaningful learning of the course competencies in the curriculum and proactively supports all facets of the learning environment. The instructor provides education through learning-centered instruction that will enable graduates to fulfill the evolving needs of the marketplace. The instructor encourages a culture of learning that values mutual responsibility and respect, life-long learning and ethics as well as personal and professional development. Students are taught to conceptualize and design effective motion graphics and visual effects demonstrating a command of industry specific technology. Additional responsibilities include student advising, working collaboratively with colleagues, and active participation with the department.
Reports To: Academic Department Director of Visual Effects & Motion Graphics
Job Requirements
Experience:
1. Can demonstrate experience with broadcast design, motion graphics, 3D modeling, particle systems, motion tracking, and compositing skills related to the 2D and 3D production environment.
2. Can demonstrated experience in basic filmmaking principles: cinematography, use of live-action plates, animation, and editing.
Knowledge:
1. Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the classes to be taught; Master’s degree preferred.
b) Experience in instruction or formalized education process, preferably in a post-secondary or college institution.
c) A minimum of 3 years of industry experience.
Skills:
1. Candidates must be proficient in Adobe After Effects, Autodesk Maya and or Autodesk 3ds max, Shake (or other 3D compositing applications), and Apple Final Cut Pro. Working knowledge of SD and HD cameras and high def formats a plus.
2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to build successful relationships with student populations.
3. Outstanding conflict resolution skills.
4. Demonstrated time management and detail-oriented skills.
Abilities:
1. Ability to work effectively under pressure and to meet deadlines.
2. Ability to develop a professional rapport with diverse school/campus constituents.
3. Ability to develop and complete projects without direct supervision.
4. Ability to learn from students’ participation, demonstrates fair and consistent. behavior in all matters, and shows compassion without being ineffectual.
