Responsible for aligning the security function with the organization’s overall business objectives. Oversee strategic, tactical, and financial management for Corporate Security operations. Develops, plans, organizes and directs the activities of security supervisors, proprietary and contracted security officer staff and security specialist staff. Partner with business in order to ensure a safe working environment. Position Responsibilities • Develop and build a global command center to act as a communication hub for escalation of situations that could impact business continuation. Monitor global crisis and situations that could impact Medtronic employees traveling or Medtronic facilities. • Provides direction and leadership to all aspects of security operations for over 2.6 million square feet in 14 locations. This operation serves in excess of 8,150 internal clients within the Twin Cities. Assist with design, development and implementation of organizational models that are aligned with Business Unit and Corporate clients. • Direct and manager 18 full time employees and three supervisors. • Direct and oversee the work of an estimated 75 full time equivalent contract guards. • Participates in designing, developing and maintaining the Corporate Security crisis response program. This includes: procedure writing; program planning; conducting emergency preparedness drills and exercises. Strong working knowledge of hazards within the region. Coordinates inspections, reports, and documentation of crisis response activities. Establish and maintain relationships with state and local emergency management authorities. • Assists in the development and management of annual capital and expense budgets to support overall business strategies. Interacts with senior management and middle management. • Manages overall quality processes consistent with goals of Global Business Solutions. Develops competency and directs facility staff in the participation of managing key performance indicators. • Responsible for organizational and staff development, performance management and leadership to direct and indirect reports to support key department initiatives. • Receives and evaluates all security related incidents and makes recommendations to preclude recurrence • Maintains close relationships with high-level law enforcement, community emergency responders, intelligence and private sector counterparts Basic Qualifications EDUCATION REQUIRED • Bachelor degree YEARS OF EXPERIENCE • 10+ years experience in a corporate or similar security setting • 10+ years managing people at various levels SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED • 6+ years crisis management experience within public or private sector Desired/Preferred Qualifications • Certified Protection Professional (CPP) • Master degree • Advanced training in emergency management • CPR, First Aid, AED certified • Comprehensive knowledge of physical security technology • Computer literacy • Strong Communication Skills(written/verbal) • Organizational Development experience • Ability to maintain professional demeanor under stressful situations • Strong problem solving /Decision making and conflict resolution skills • Result Orientation • Integrity • Interpersonal Effectiveness • Quality Orientation • Innovation • Continuous Learning • Six Sigma or comparable quality programs Physical Job Requirements Stand, Sit, Walk for 8 hours / day.
