Position Description
This position is responsible for developing and implementing innovative manufacturing processes and small assembly solutions for high volume medical products, with emphasis on quality, high yields and process capability. Responsibilities begin early in the technology/development phase and would include design for manufacturability (DFM), support of prototype build, verification of measurement systems, development of tooling and fixturing, and specification and of assembly equipment.
Position Responsibilities
Summary of Major Responsibilities
1) Assist in the development of coiling methods for small coated metals with an intended outcome of optimizing them for high volume production. The work is likely to begin as "hands-on" prototyping and evolve into equipment specification/purchase/qualification, process characterization, and eventual release to production. The use of FMEA and other methods to mitigate risk and reduce process variability is essential.
2) Work closely with product designers, project engineers, and manufacturing engineers. Collaboration within the teams will be critical to success.
3) Utilize statistical techniques to understand process variables and their impact on outcomes with an emphasis on data-based decision making.
Basic Qualifications
Minimal requirements:
1) 4 year degree in an engineering program (Mechanical preferred but other programs can be considered with the appropriate experience)
2)Two years of experience that demonstrate basic skills necessary to develop a process from a product design concept utilizing early prototypes and existing equipment/processes.
3) Experience with basic statistical techniques.
Desired/Preferred Qualifications
1) 4 year degree in an engineering program (Mechanical preferred but other programs can be considered with the appropriate experience) and 2 or more years of work experience.in a manufacture/process engineering function or
Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering with 1 year of experience in a manufacturing/process engineering function.
3) Basic skills necessary to develop a process from a product design concept utilizing early prototypes and existing equipment/processes.
4) Understanding of statistical techniques in decision making.
5) Excellent verbal communication skills to enhance collaboration and written skills to prepare/execute/communicate plans and reports.
