Dunwoody's vision is to provide “for all time” a place where people of diverse backgrounds receive learning opportunities that prepare them for “the better performance of life’s duties.” Dunwoody College of Technology currently seeks an experienced individual to teach Residential HVAC Design in our Residential Sheet Metal-Fabrication and Installation program. This class will be held at our Minneapolis campus on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:00pm to 9:00pm and will run from 9/3/08 through 11/19/08. MAJOR OBJECTIVE Initiate the teaching and learning process with a focus on continuous improvement. Create an environment in which students can accomplish the learning objectives of the course of instruction. Results in students able to demonstrate the knowledge, skills, ethics, and use of proper tools to meet industry and professional business standards. This position will teach the following class: SMLT111 – Residential HVAC Design Class Days/Times: Monday/Wednesday 6:00pm - 9:00pm Class Dates: 9/3/08 – 11/19/08 You will learn the concepts behind load calculation, equipment selection, heating distribution, and the theoretical and practical application of residential design and layout. POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES • Facilitates learning activities so that students learn the principles, theory, skills, and work ethic necessary to become proficient for entry level positions. • Creates a positive learning environment. • Monitors, assesses and advises learner on technical and academic progress and performance. • Uses current academic and industry practices in assigned courses of instruction. • Develops and upgrades lesson material, training aids and maintains equipment within assigned course of instruction. • Participates in industry and/or professional organizations in order to maintain and enhance program health and academic integrity. QUALIFICATIONS • AAS Degree in HVAC Technology or equivalent diploma from an accredited two year institution. • Five years field experience. • Knowledge of mechanical code. • Strong written and oral communication skills. • Ability to work well with others in an academic environment. • Experience using Microsoft office products.
