COMMUNITY CORRECTIONS DIRECTOR Posted: May 9, 2008 DIVISION: Community Services DEPARTMENT: Community Corrections LOCATION: Scott County Government Center, Shakopee, MN Office and field work UNION: Non-Union OT STATUS: Exempt ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE: • Provides leadership in establishing & achieving a vision for Community Corrections in Scott County. • Provides overall direction, coordination, & evaluation of the Community Correction department & programs. • Oversees the preparation & administration of the department budget & the annual comprehensive plan. • Supervises the work of subordinate employees; hires, promotes, trains employees on new tasks, schedules, makes work assignments, directs work, evaluates performance, rewards, & disciplines. • Negotiates with the County Board, the Community Corrections Advisory Board, local legislators, & County & Court Administrative offices to establish operational goals & to ensure standards & court requirements are met. • Collaborates with others on program & policy development; coordinates services of designated programs with related community organizations & other County departments. • Provides effective & efficient management of resources allocated to the department. • Manages the development & implementation of effective Community Corrections policies & practices. • Represents Scott County & the department on special committees & before governmental bodies. • Monitors programming & services to ensure staff meets standards & maintains compliance with court-ordered supervision requirements. • Envisions plans, strategically manages, organizes, implements, & provides oversight to division-wide administrative strategies, policies, programs, & services. • Assesses existing & anticipated service levels, staffing needs & program requirements, & recommends funding levels & revenue sources to meet requirements. • Provides supervision, oversight, & direction to department supervisors to ensure services & programs are provided in an effective, efficient, & lawful manner. • Monitors program delivery to ensure balanced provision of service & appropriate use of resources. • Functions as a liaison to groups & individuals within the community & acts as a legislative liaison between State & County administration. Actively engages with the community & stakeholders regarding services & programs. • Directs the preparation of required state & federal reports on program activity & effectiveness. • Works the days & hours necessary to perform all assigned responsibilities & tasks. • Promotes & supports safety & loss control programs to ensure a safe & healthy working environment. • Performs related duties as required or assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Requires the equivalency of a bachelor’s degree (MA preferred) & six years of increasingly complex Corrections experience, including at least two years of supervisory experience. This is a highly collaborative position requiring an adept interpersonal communicator. An ability to innovate & be creative amid a myriad of expectations, orders, & stakeholders is essential. The incumbent shall possess a valid driver’s license & provide a reliable means of transportation for the performance of work responsibilities. •••• PROGRESSIVE. GROWING. ENGAGED. Let’s work together. •••• CLASSIFICATION: 3050 – Community Corrections Director HIRING RANGE: $70,256 to $95,000-DOQ. Performance based salary maximum $116,975.
