All over the country, as lay-offs continue at a record pace, people are realizing their “job” is gone forever. State governors and white house officials are stating in public that many jobs are never coming back and that job losses will continue to rise throughout the rest of 2009. This news is alarming to the currently employed and laid-off worker alike. Some workers that felt this would simply be a short-term inconvenience, have now realized it has become a personal crisis. In the face of crisis, however, people throughout time have responded with creativity, ingenuity, and staunch determination.
While most of the economic news is not good, a fantastic grass roots movement is beginning to sweep America: The POWERMIND Project is both researching and proudly contributing to this “Economic Revolution,” one entrepreneur at a time. Economic revolution is awesome news for everyone without work! It gives an unemployed person the opportunity to dig deep into their mind, stir their spirit, and search for creative ways to become financially secure, self reliant, and more independent. People are using what money they have left to “Train for Change” investing in themselves, increasing their skill set and turning their natural talents and hobbies into immediate income. The entrepreneurial American revolution rises once again, from Bill Gates who started Microsoft in a garage to more local examples, people are succeeding in the face of adversity.
One local Minnesota example of an “economic revolutionary” we researched can help illustrate the phenomenon. Mark Mason of Cannon Falls MN was a casualty in the laid-off work force. He faced the turning point in life that many now face. “Should I continue running on the resume, job search, interview, lay-off wheel or become an economic revolutionary and turn my natural talent and hobby into income?” Obviously he chose the latter and has never looked back. His hobby was videography. Mark has a passion, interest, and natural talent in this area. His previous full time job never afforded him the opportunity to use this talent to earn income. Unshackled from the daily oppressive demands of his previous employer, he was free to pursue his passion. The trick as always is how to earn income with your talent.
Mark started where he lived with what tools he had available; a tripod and video camera. He had been videotaping his daughters at school sporting events. People actually noticed his diligence and asked him to videotape their children for a fee. This led to a business idea - video duplication and editing services. Mark purchased used equipment from e-bay and craigslist. He studied and practiced with his equipment and increased his skill set. He advertised in the local newspaper and he networked. People called and asked if he would videotape weddings, graduations, take pictures, build video collages, take old photographs and digitize them on discs, etc. He later received new requests to make demonstration videos, so people could put video clips of their products and services on their own websites, YouTube, etc. Animal breeders wanted videos documenting their prize horses, cattle, etc. His business expanded, his market grew, and his company was named - Video Transfer Technologies of Cannon Falls MN. Mark Mason is but one example of a person who turned his natural talents and hobby into income. He used just a few of the principles researched from The POWERMIND Project to become successful.
